Continuous practical assessment is provided to cover wound management, care of an unconscious casualty, CPR, choking and anaphylaxis and 1 multiple choice paper.

Duration : 3 days - If you have an in-date FAW qualification you can do a 2 day re-qualification (for groups this can be completed with 12 hours in the classroom).

Managing an incident and priorities of First Aid and use of First Aid Kits

Treatment of an unconscious adult, baby and child who is or is not breathing

Importance of a defibrillator and how to use an AED

Heart Attack, Angina and Stroke

Choking and Shock

Bleeding – grazes, splinters, embedded objects, amputated parts, knocked out teeth, mouth injury, eye injury, bruising, nose bleeds, objects in eyes, ears, nose…

Burns and scalds

Head and spinal injuries, concussion, compression & skull fracture

Breaks, soft tissue injuries & dislocations

Anaphylactic shock and acute allergic reaction

Fitting and seizures

Asthma, complex chest injuries and breathing problems

The aftermath, accident forms

What will you learn?

This course covers more topics and goes into considerably more depth and detail than the shorter EFAW course.

Prioritising injuries and action in an emergency.

How to provide immediate medical care in an emergency.

How to assess if someone is unconscious, whether or not they are breathing and how and when to put them into the recovery position or start CPR.

We will cover common accidents and injuries relevant to your industry and empower you with the skills and confidence to provide an immediate and appropriate first aid response.

We will include baby and child first aid and we will always tailor the course to the requirements of your work.
